The application process for the academy program of the ‘ HDV Minority Rights Academy ‘ project has started! The program aims to discuss minority rights studies in the world and in Turkey, raise awareness on this issue and contribute to shaping solution proposals. We welcome applications from everyone who is interested in the field of minority rights and carries out different studies on these issues!
HDV Minority Rights Academy
The academy’s curriculum; It includes the definition and transformation of the concept of minority, legal legislation regarding minorities on an international and national basis, the political history of minorities in Turkey and the problems experienced in the implementation of minority rights, comparative studies and advocacy from different countries. The seminars are built on four main pillars: conceptual framework, historical background, comparative politics and advocacy.
The HDV Minority Rights Academy staff consists of people from different countries and specializations. The program is in two stages: In the first stage, there will be four days of face-to-face education, and in the second stage, there will be four online meetings on separate days. The language of the program is Turkish. Although the content of the program is mostly in Turkish, simultaneous translation will be provided for English seminars and Turkish summaries will be provided for English readings.
Since the academy program consists of subjects that complement each other, it requires regular participation. Participants who complete the program will be given a certificate by the Hrant Dink Foundation. Participants are expected to fully participate in the program and complete various projects during the academy process in order to receive a certificate. The academy program will be held face-to-face at the Anarad Hığutyun Building in Istanbul between 7-10 June 2024 .
HDV Minority Rights Academy Project Grant Program
Within the scope of the HDV Minority Rights Academy project, participants who have completed their education at the academy will be able to apply for the grant program through their institutions. In line with the general purpose of the academy, priority will be given in the grant program to projects that aim to protect minority groups, strengthen minority rights and promote advocacy.
Applications to the grant program will be selected through the selection committee and detailed selection regulations will be published separately. The grant program, which will be given after each academy program, will be given to a minimum of eight institutions in total in both periods, and the budget amount to be allocated to each project will be at least 10,000 and at most 15,000 Euros. The duration of the projects is minimum 6 months and maximum 9 months.
Who can join the academy?
- Anyone with at least a bachelor’s degree who is interested in minority rights and advocacy and wants to work on this issue can apply to the academy.
- Priority will be given to NGO workers, academics, lawyers, media and public sector workers, individuals from minority groups, women and students who have worked in the field of minority rights.
What support is provided throughout the academy program?
- The quota is limited to 20 people and participation in the program is free.
- Accommodation and transportation expenses of participants coming from outside Istanbul will be covered.
- Program materials will be given to participants digitally.
- In seminars to be given in English, Turkish-English and English-Turkish simultaneous translation will be provided.
How can you apply?
People who want to join the academy must fill out the application form completely and submit it by 18.00 on May 2, 2024 . Results will be sent to applicants via e-mail by May 15, 2024 .
