Project Driver – ARPWASH 111

JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant, the job holder will support and provide safe and reliable transportation service to the ARPWASH 111 project team.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Ensuring that Amref staff and deliveries are taken to their destinations in a timely, safe and secure manner.
  •  Having the vehicle for the trip ready in advance.
  •  Being punctual to pick up and drop people as required.
  •  Ensuring that all tools required for the trip are in the vehicle.
  •  Ensuring that the trip is smooth, thus no over-speeding.
  •  Ensuring that all documentation regarding the trip is done and all authorizations have been obtained.
  •  Ensuring that the delivery book is signed for all deliveries.
  •  Ensuring that the allocated vehicle is always kept clean.
  •  Washing the car regularly and ensuring that it is kept tidy at all times.
  •  Keeping the car in good working condition.
  •  Checking the tyre pressure, oil tank before each trip.
  •  Keeping to service schedules.
  •  Keeping alert on any possible mechanical problems.
  •  Ensuring that necessary repairs are carried out economically and timely.
  •  Maintaining up to date and accurate reports of work tickets including kilometers traveled, fuel consumed and dates of oil changes.
  •  Ensuring the safety of passengers at all times.
  •  Ensuring that the assigned vehicle has all required registrations/licensing and inspections and that necessary document is retained with the vehicle.
  •  Ensuring that car seat belts are functional and that all passengers have fastened their safety belts at all times.
  •  Adhering to traffic rules at all times.
  •  Avoiding and reporting any accidents.
  •  Ensure personal compliance with the Government Traffic Act.
  •  Report incidents and take appropriate steps as per the organization’s rules and regulations.
  •  Maintain up to date and accurate records of vehicle work tickets and monthly fuel voucher booklet.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience & Competencies

  •  Minimum “O” (Form 4 certificate) level of education.
  •  At least Three (3) years of driving experience with a good track record in a busy office, preferably in an NGO.
  •  MUST have a valid driving license.
  •  Training on defensive driving or basic mechanic is desirable.
  •  Certificate in basic computer applications.
  •  Oral and written English and Kiswahili language fluency with the ability to follow instructions.
  •  Candidates from the local county locations are preferred.
  •  Time management skills
  •  Flexibility and adaptability.
  •  Good general understanding of the different vehicle parts.
  •  Ability to understand what precautions and preventive measures are required for proper vehicle maintenance.

Project Officer – FGMC and WASH Integration

JOB PURPOSE

Under the leadership and guidance of the Project Manager, the primary duty of the Project Officer will be to provide on-the-ground administrative and technical support for the planning, implementation and monitoring of the project activities, as well as reporting (quarterly, biannually and annually) and collaborating with stakeholders and project beneficiaries to ensure effective and timely implementation. This is a field-based assignment.

The Project Officer will facilitate partnership and relationship building with other Amref projects as well as create and maintain relationships with local authorities, relevant county and national government departments and other key stakeholders. The purpose of this position is to mobilize and engage with community structures and stakeholders by integrating Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Community-led Alternative Rights of Passage (CL-ARP) and drought resilient Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions for achievement of project goal and outcomes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project coordination & implementation

  • Provide overall coordination and oversight of Amref Health Africa’s – ARPWASH 111 Project at the county.
  •  Co-ordinate and participate in developing of project design, comprehensive work plans, budgets, tasks and implementation of project activities in the county.
  •  Coordinate the implementation of ARPWASH 111 activities in Kajiado county by working in coordination with the relevant county and national government ministries/department, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality project implementation. This will include the
  • County and National Department of Gender and Social Services, Gender Technical Working Group, Ministry of Education, County Department of Public Health (Public Health and Sanitation), County Department of Water and Irrigation, Anti-FGM Board, National Administration Officials (NGAOs), Youth Anti-FGM Network, relevant networks/alliances/movements, relevant community structures, religious leaders, community leaders, policy makers and activists.
  •  Participate in preparation of annual work plans and progress monthly, quarterly and annual reports relating to the project reports as per donor and organizational requirements.
  •  Provide operational assistance to the project team to ensure smooth continuity of project activities, and keep inventory of materials
  •  Work with Project Team to develop detailed meeting/events concept notes, agendas, materials for events and identifying speakers and opportunities for media coverage.
  •  Coordinate planning and logistics for events with particular focus on donor visits and CL-ARP
  •  Capacity strengthen (training, technical advice, mentorship and learning-by-doing) of Community Advisory Teams, Children Advisory Councils, Community Health Assistants, Community Health Promoters, Community Champions, School Health Club Patrons and other change agents to own and lead the process of change for meaningful and sustainable transformation.

Administrative & Financial management

  • Facilitate timely procurement of goods and services for the project
  • Support project implementation by taking activity advance, travel imprests and ensuring implementation as per the budget
  • Support project work plan implementation for a healthy financial standing with acceptable financial performance and burn rate
  • Ensure timely surrender of field activity advances and compliance to financial SOPs and protocols

Communications and Visibility

  • Attend events on behalf of ARPWASH 111 and Amref Health Africa to promote the brand’s vision, values and approach as appropriate.
  • Seek opportunities to represent and promote the Project in meetings with the press, public events and government meetings in line with pre-agreed work plans.
  • Document and disseminate best practices and lessons learnt locally and internationally to influence policy and action.
  • Identify evidence and stories of social change, and work with Communications for documentation and amplification

Monitoring, reporting and Evaluation

  • Support project M&E activities including report writing and uploading programme data on AIMs
  • Assist in preparation and tracking of quarterly and annual budgets, and work plans
  • Write project reports (monthly, quarterly, biannually and annually) as required by the donor and the organization
  • Upload project data in AIMS on a monthly basis as required
  • Provide day-to-day program updates and status reports as needed
  • Support in the preparation of work plans, budgets, M&E plans and performance frameworks for the project
  • Participate in meetings to discuss data, share learning and for adaptive management

Networking, Collaboration and Resource Leveraging

  • Participate in relevant county –level technical working groups and platforms ensuring that participation generates value for Amref Health Africa
  • Identify possible partners to support the establishment and development of partnerships across different stakeholders including media, local funders, INGOs to leverage resources for ARPWASH interventions

Programme Growth

  • Participate in development of GBV, WASH and Child Protection Resource Mobilization and Fundraising Efforts

Other 

  • Undertake other relevant duties which might not be included in JD but are strategic for the Project and Amref Health Africa

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Professional Qualifications

  •  The ideal candidate should have a first degree in Social sciences, Public Health or related field.
  •  Demonstrated expertise in the design and development of capacity enhancing programmes.
  •  In depth knowledge of capacity development approaches and methodologies
  •  Knowledge in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Ending Gender Based Violence (GBV), Gender Equality & Women Empowerment, Water Sanitation and Health (WASH), adult learning methodologies and leveraging technology for learning.

Required Experience

  •  At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a busy donor funded program with focus on health programming preferably coordination of community-level integration interventions such as SRHR, GBV
  • (FGM/C and Child Marriage), and WASH.
  •  Hands on experience in project coordination monitoring, reporting and documentation.
  •  Understanding of behaviour change or social change communications
  •  Demonstrated experience and knowledge in enhancing community-led and community-driven interventions for meaningful and sustainable community transformation
  •  Hands on experience in project development, proposal writing and grant management.
