US Treasury Department Announces Sanctions on Fundraisers for West Bank Extremists.

The United States Department of the Treasury recently announced sanctions against two entities: Mount Hebron Fund and Shlom Asiraich. These organizations are alleged to have facilitated the fundraising of tens of thousands of dollars for individuals previously sanctioned by the US for violent acts against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The Treasury Department identified Mount Hebron Fund as responsible for raising $140,000 for Yinon Levi, a settler sanctioned in February for leading attacks on Palestinian civilians. Shlom Asiraich allegedly raised $31,000 for David Chai Chasdai, who was involved in a riot resulting in the death of a Palestinian civilian.

Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo emphasized the US government’s position, stating, “Mount Hebron Fund and Shlom Asiraich’s actions directly support extremists responsible for violence against Palestinians. These activities undermine the prospects for peace, security, and stability in the West Bank. The US will continue to utilize available tools to hold such actors accountable.”

This action represents an escalation of US efforts to address violence in the West Bank. It follows previous sanctions imposed on individual West Bank settlers and unauthorized outposts.
