PS Kipsang says schools will open despite the heavy rains.
Despite the heavy rains and floods affecting critical infrastructure nationwide, Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang announced that schools will resume for the second term next week.
He mentioned that preparations were being made for the opening. In preparation, Elyas Abdi, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, has sent out a circular to regional education directors asking them to gather data on the effects of the rain and floods and hand it in today (Friday).
We are prepared and excited for our children to start school. Dr Kipsang stated that as a ministry, they will actively participate in multitasking with colleagues to guarantee children’s safety as they return to school.
He delivered a speech at the first yearly symposium on Competency Based Assessment (CBA) organized by the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) in Nairobi.
The PS confirmed that President William Ruto’s order to a team of various agencies to tackle the issues caused by the rains is currently being put into action. Dr. Kipsang stated that this is a component of the thorough arrangements meant to help students return to schools nationwide.
The declaration is made amidst worries about how the intense rainfall is affecting infrastructure and transportation systems, leading to doubts about the possibility of restarting school operations.
