The ongoing conflict has triggered a large-scale displacement crisis, with a staggering 20,000 people, half of them children, forced to flee their homes daily. This translates to a concerning total of over 8.6 million people displaced within Sudan in just one year, with many experiencing multiple displacements. Children are disproportionately affected, constituting 53% of the displaced population. The conflict has also severely disrupted food production and distribution, pushing millions to the brink of famine. IOM’s Role in the Crisis Despite the challenges, IOM continues to deliver critical humanitarian assistance. To date, they have reached over 2 million people in need with essential multisectoral aid across Sudan and neighboring countries. The international community must act swiftly and decisively to address this escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
