DOCUMENT REVIEWERS (80 POSITIONS)

The Board has committed to increase efficiency in the registration process and reduce the registration timelines. There is also a significant increase in the number of applications for registration as Consulting Engineers and Professional Engineers with the Board. The Board intends to co-opt 80 document reviewers, as tabulated below:

Professional Document Reviewers

Duties and Responsibilities of Document Reviewers

  • To evaluate the submittedprofessional examination documents for conformity to the Boards format andspecifications.
  • Provide mentorship and advice to PE candidates
  • Advice the Board on the professionalexamination process.
  • Advice candidates on the quality ofthe professional examination reports
  • Work with the professional interviewpanels towards improving competency levels of the PE applicants.

Key Competency of Document Reviewers

  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer with the Board and in good standing
  • Must have at least eight years working experience
  • Mustbe in good standing with IEK at least as a corporate member.

BACKGROUND

The Board intends to register 10,000 Professional Engineers of which 500 will be registered in the current financial year. To meet this strategic intended the Board would like to expand the Professional interview panels and document review panels.

The Board has committed to increase efficiency in the registration process and reduce the registration timelines. There is also a significant increase in the number of applications for registration as Consulting Engineers and Professional Engineers with the Board. The Board intends to co-opt 125 Professional interview Panellists as tabulated below:

2 Role of Professional Examination Panels.

The general role of the professional interview panel will be to conduct the professional interview during the registration process as well as administer the written examination.The document review panel is responsible for vetting the professional examination documents for conformity to the Board format and other requirements. This is usually done before the documents are submitted to the interview panel.

Members of both professional examination panel and document review panel are expected to operate within the established engineering codes of conduct. They are expected to exercise fairness and objectivity in carrying out their duties. They are also expected to be discrete with the data and information that may be in their custody or shared in the course of their duties.

The term of office will be a period of 2No year, renewable for 1No more term subject to excellent performance and availability for respective duties

PROFESSIONAL INTERVIEW PANELS

Duties and Responsibilities

The professional interview panel will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Conducting the professional examination interview.
  • Administering written essay/examination
  • Evaluating candidates as per set criteria as well as provision of reports to secretariat.
  • Participate in reviewing engineering academic programmes.
  • Advice the Board on matters professional examination process on other Board functions.
  • Advice candidates on the professional examination process and related issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of competency levels among engineers
  • Facilitating the training workshops for preparation of examination reports and other mentorship programmes.

Key Competency of Interview Panellists

  • Must be a registered Consulting Engineers with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
  • Have at least 15 years working experience.
  • Must be in good standing with the Board.
  • For women Engineers, Persons living with disability and emerging engineering disciplines, Professional Engineers will be considered
