Building a Stronger Civil Service: PSC Conducts Nationwide Exams for Assistant Officers
The Public Service Commission (PSC) of Kenya has exemplified its commitment to a well-equipped and environmentally conscious civil service through a series of recent actions. This week, the Commission tackled two crucial areas: ensuring a competent public service workforce and contributing to a greener future for Kenya.
On the professional development front, the PSC conducted Assistant Officer (AOs) examinations across various centers nationwide. Overseeing these exams was the Human Resource Development (HRD) committee, led by Commissioners Dr. Mary Mwiandi and Joan Otieno. These assessments play a vital role in selecting qualified individuals who possess the necessary skills and knowledge to serve the public effectively. By ensuring a competent workforce, the PSC lays the foundation for a more efficient and responsive civil service.
Beyond its core mandate, the PSC also demonstrated its environmental consciousness. The team involved in administering the Machakos AOs exams went a step further, participating in a tree-planting exercise at Machakos Teachers Training College. Led by the County Education Officer and the Principal, the team, including Yusta Wambua who led the PSC contingent on the ground, actively contributed to this green initiative.
This act of environmental stewardship aligns perfectly with the government’s ongoing efforts to promote conservation. It further underscores the PSC’s dedication to not only building a skilled civil service but also fostering a more sustainable future for Kenya. By combining professional development initiatives with environmental responsibility, the PSC sets a strong example for other government agencies and public servants across the nation.
